Windows VPN error codes and solutions
ERROR 789
This is an L2TP error. Try to use PPTP instead. If you are using VISTA or Windows 7, please make sure that you initiate the L2TP connection using our connection tool and not the network wizard. To use L2TP on Windows XP and 2000, you will need to download and run this registry fileand restart your computer. After performing these steps it is not possible to get error 789 again. Should you still receive error 789, you either didn't confirm the registry alteration when your computer prompted for it, or didn't reboot. Some viruses block registry changes, so if you continue to get error 789 please consider fully scanning your computer with an up-to-date virus scanner.
ERROR 619
This error is most frequent on networks where PPTP is blocked. Select an L2TP server to connect. Please note that Windows XP might give error 789 with L2TP. In that case see the solution above.
ERROR 631
This is an SSTP error. Download and run this registry file and reboot your computer.
ERROR 691
This is a simple username or password error. Make sure that you use the correct username and password. You might also get this error, if you try to log into the same VPN server more than once at the same time. If you suspect that someone else may be using your account, change your password in your billing account (log in in the central section of our opening page)
ERROR 806 or ERROR 721
A firewall or your ISP is blocking your VPN access. Try connecting with all our protocols: PPTP, L2TP and SSTP and continue to use the one that works on your network. Our SSTP uses the standard secure web port (443) and will pass through most firewalls.
ERROR 807
Most likely your virus filter or firewall application is blocking your VPN access. Known applications to do this are AVG, BlackIce, Zone Alarm, Avast 5.x and all software based hotspot solutions. Please visit your filter solution vendor's website for the fix. (Please also see the similar error 806, 721)
ERROR 809
Your DNS name resolution is not working. Ask your ISP or network administrator to check it.
This is a common error in China where network filtering is achieved with DNS record scrambling. If you are in China, please contact our support for a solution tailored to your specific circumstance.
This error is also frequent for mobile Internet users whose dataplan expired or ran out of available credits.
Unable to run the PBK file. Adobe PixelBender starts
Please download and run this registry file and reboot your computer.
OpenVPN connected, but my IP didn't change
On Windows Vista and Windows 7 you must run OpenVPN as an administrator. |
